Practice Makes Perfect

Integrative InSight celebrated its 2nd
anniversary in July. How timely is it that I've
finally found the words to express what I believe I
offer my clients and students. So here they are
... "We've all heard the adage, 'Practice makes
perfect'. How you do
anything is most likely how you do everything.
Daily life provides plenty of practice at being
stressed, anxious, tense, constricted,
overwhelmed. What if you could practice a calm,
open, assured, focused, and clear state of
being?" And to think, all I had to do is to
truly listen to what I tell my students ... "Don't get
hung up on 'Which technique to choose? Am I doing it
right?' Focus on how
you feel afterwards. If you feel calm,
open, focused, clear, energized ... then you've
meditated." All of my recent training and recent
readings have reinforced my conviction that my strength
lies in demystifying the "shoulds" around meditation and
making it practical and accessible to even the most
skeptical. In connecting with a corporate market,
I've been challenged to identify the ways meditation has
supported me as an entrepreneur ... the ability to
approach a difficult situation from a different
perspective, to be able to listen to my instinct rather
than be a slave to my "To Do" list, or to fully tune
into what someone is telling me. All valuable
skills that easily translate to all aspects of my
life. My birthday visit to the Body Worlds
exhibit reminded me of the wonders of the human
body. But it also reminded me forcibly that there
is so much more to the human being that what meets the
eye. Meditation and yoga therapy are practical tools
that I use to access those parts of me that rarely get
used in my daily grind. They allow me to practice a
state of being that I choose for myself, not one that is
imposed on me by circumstances. But don't just
take my word for it! If you read the testimonials
from my meditation
courses and yoga therapy
sessions, you'll see that this is what my students
have discovered for themselves too. So if
you are intrigued and want to take charge of your
life, I have many options scheduled starting in
September. Or try out my new Personal Meditation
Coaching program. Or consider taking advantage of my
grand opening special in August and schedule a yoga
therapy session to clear away doubts about "can I?" or
set beliefs about how things "should" be. Doubts
and beliefs are my greatest obstacle as a Meditation
Facilitator ... your mind-body and your personal
experience can be your greatest teacher.
Sincerely,
Meenal

Grand opening / Anniversary
Special: through
the end of August 2008 ... Unlimited
private Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and Thai Yoga
Therapy sessions for $75- this represents a
savings of 33-50% off the regular price. Offer is
valid at either my Camarillo or Westlake Village
locations.
The more I explore the mind-body connection, the
more amazed I am at how they influence each other in
unfathomable ways. It is a challenge to relax the
mind if the physical body is tense. Likewise, a
centered, open, fluid physical state translates to the
same mental qualities. It is something that has to
be experienced to be believed, and both yoga therapy
sessions allow you to experience it for
yourself. 2 hour
Thai Yoga Therapy:
- "My neck pain was
significantly reduced. ... Even the next day, I felt
relief. I really appreciated how careful and
attentive you were to my shoulder."
- "I got to go
inward, feel my entire system responding to the work.
... I felt balanced and more
whole."
1.5 hour Phoenix Rising Yoga
Therapy:
- "It was a
mind-opening exercise that left me with a physical, as
well as mental well-being."
- "What I got was
the realization that I hold the power to move from a
state of stress to a state of
calm."

Let's
work together to transcend your
obstacles
I've
had so many requests for private meditation classes that
I've just added Personal Meditation Coaching to my
services. This is so new that it is not yet on my
website!
Though
this new program is targeted towards busy executives,
who want to tune into their intuition, create space in
their busy day for insights, and to listen more fully to
their customers' needs, it can be customized for people
of any age.
"By
simply taking 5 - 10 minutes a day to use Meenal's
meditation techniques have saved me hours of frustration
and back tracking allowing me to focus and get more
done." - Katrina Garcia, President of KV@ - Virtually
Everywhere
The
program consists of:
- 1 private 2-hour initial meeting consisting
of:
- 1/2 hour consultation to review your goals
- 1 private 1.5-hour Yoga Therapy session
- 4 private 1-hour coaching sessions
- customized meditation techniques tailored to you
and your lifestyle
- support in navigating your unique obstacles
to reaching your meditation goals.
Obvious
question ... why that many sessions? Consider that
daily life provides plenty of practice at a stressed,
anxious, overwhelmed, constricted way of being. We
all know that practice makes perfect. This program
is your personal investment in experiencing, learning
and practicing a relaxed, open, flexible, centered way
of being. The unique combination of yoga therapy and
coaching sessions maximizes your success in meditating
on your own.
Price = $450 pay prorated amount at
the end of each session/ $400 if paid in full at the
start of the sessions.

Experience
different modalities for yourself
Holistic Healing Day was launched by
the Camarillo Center For Spiritual Living in 2002 to
bring much-needed healing to the local community after
9/11. For those of you who are curious about different
modalities that are available locally, this is an
amazing opportunity to meet practitioners and to
personally experience a mini-session (15 minutes) for
yourself. The Center
offers this entire event as a complimentary service to
all of us - for you as a community member, and for me as
a practitioner.
My husband and I dropped
in last year and surprised ourselves by spending at
least 2 hours, talking with different practitioners,
reading literature, and waiting in line to experience
modalities that we did not even know existed, let alone
locally. The Center creates a respectful, nurturing
environment that is extremely relaxed and
welcoming.
I'll be doing mini-Thai Yoga Therapy
sessions. Consider dropping by to see me even if just to
say "hi" ... you'll be quickly drawn into the
experience.

your convenience ...

And the survey
says ...
A huge thank you to all of you who responded to
my survey! Overall, this is what I
learned:
- I have a very supportive group of people who
receive this newsletter. Even people who've
never attended any of my paid programs took the time
to weigh in on my survey.
- There is an equal split between wanting to learn
meditation through a pre-scheduled teleclass and
wanting recorded meditations that could support you at
any time.
- There were three clear favorite guided meditation
techniques ... breath focus, visualization and
forgiveness meditations.
So it appears I am
on the right track for the moment ... offering more
opportunities to take my meditation course with me in
person, but needing to provide some tools that you can
use at home at your convenience. More to follow as
I make progress on recording more meditations
... ________________________________________________ Where
West meets East ...In my last newsletter,
I mentioned articles about yoga therapy published by
major media outlets. Did you know that there is a
growing pool of research being done on the effects of
yoga therapy and meditation? These are
three organizations that I've encountered that
both support and share the results of on-going
research:
Take a few minutes to skim
through what they are doing. On one hand, I'll
admit to some surprise at the seemingly "obvious"
effects that were measured in some of the studies, but
at the same time, I recognize that technology has only
recently evolved to monitor the more fascinating
effects. Thus I have to give credit to the effort
to start with what is available and measurable now, so
that the pool of evidence accumulates, for those of you
who err on the side of "I'll believe it if someone has
studied
it". | | |
