| Developing a Wabi-Sabi Outlook
| |
| Upcoming
Events For March 2008 |
|
I came across the term wabi-sabi, twice in
two weeks from two different sources. Much to my
dismay, I misread it both times as wasabi, which was a
vivid demonstration of how we can limit ourselves to
only see expected patterns. Wabi-sabi is a
Japanese concept of "finding beauty in things that
are simple, rustic, and maybe even incomplete."
When I realized my mistake, I instantly thought, "What
an inspiring way to break out of my
patterns?" Thus, I am hosting casual dinners
where everyone contributes conversation, food and
connection. I am successfully appreciating the
beautiful flowers that are slowly unfolding in my yard,
rather than the weeds and bare patches. I am
redefining the yard-stick by which I measure success to
emphasize personal satisfaction, over dollars and
cents. By permitting myself to see beauty in
simplicity and incompleteness, I am able to approach
life with a more relaxed way of being - one that is more
in-tune with what's most important to me.
Simplicity inspires me to shed the unnecessary.
Incompleteness gives me the space to evolve, to grow,
and to strive. Innovative programs, such as
January's Guided Forgiveness Meditation and February's
This I Believe
Discussion Group, are creating an excited buzz amongst
those in attendance. Meanwhile, circumstances are
demanding that I continue to make changes: new phone
number (805-504-6640), new programs, and new
locations. In early March I will be attending the
SYTAR Yoga Therapy
Conference, which I suspect will inspire new paths
and offerings. Knowing this, March's schedule is
intentionally light, but stay tuned for April!
Always remember, if you want
to share something in this newsletter, you can easily
forward it to a friend by clicking on the Forward email link located just after
the end of the newsletter. Your genuine enthusiasm
is the most reliable and reputable recommendation for my
programs.
Sincerely,
Meenal

It
is not too late to join this intriguing
dialogue.
A reviewer on Amazon.com describes reading,
This I Believe, as "one of those fortuitous
moments causing a small but perceptible expansion of
one's world." I couldn't agree more! The original series
was hosted in the early 1950s by Edward R. Murrow and
was revived on NPR in 2003. According to the associated
website, "This I Believe is an international project
engaging people in writing, sharing, and discussing the
core values that guide their daily lives".
Our first two evenings were filled with
thought-provoking comments, laughter and connection,
with ages ranging from young teens and those more gray
in our hair than we care to admit. The last two evenings
promise to be inspiring and stimulating. Reading
the book is not a
requirement for participation in this group! So
please don't hold back on attending, if you were unable
to join us for the first two meetings.

- 'I've tried it, but couldn't sit still and my mind
was racing. Are there people who simply can't
meditate?'

Place
For more information or to
schedule a session, call me at

teacher, Saul David Raye, and is provided simply
as an example of a supported yoga stretch.

Depth
of relaxation that's beyond your
dreams.
What is Thai Yoga Therapy?
- It is a 2-hour facilitated, one-on-one moving
meditation.
- It combines supported customized yoga stretches
(see photo to the left), breath focus, acupressure,
gentle twisting and energy work.
- It releases stress and tension, quiets the mind,
and improves well-being.
- It deepens the connection between mind, body and
spirit.
Absolutely no knowledge of either yoga
or meditation is required - simply relax and leave that
to me! I need to complete 60 2-hour sessions to
obtain my intermediate certification. To meet that
goal, I am offering these sessions at a special price of
$75 in exchange for a short feedback form. Recent feedback: "It
was comforting, relaxing and meditative. ... My mind
felt like it was freely drifting, while my body felt
safely supported at all times. The movements
effectively released muscle strains in [my] lower back,
shoulder and neck."Call now 805-504-6640
to experience it for yourself! Offer valid for
unlimited sessions until I complete my
certification. Read what Saul David
Raye, world renown Thai Yoga Therapy master and my
teacher, has to say about this
modality. |

IN
THE NEWS: Right after sending my last newsletter,
the regional newspaper ran a 3/4 page
article on my scheduled Guided Forgiveness
Meditation. The article made such an impression
that despite the monsoon-like weather that hit Southern
California, 65 people gathered for this meditation, some
driving over 40 miles to attend. It was a
deeply-moving experience for me and for everyone who was
able to attend.
A few weeks later, my article on
self-care ran in the Camarillo Health Care
District's Healthy Attitudes, whose circulation exceeds
40,000, and I have had a lot of people recognize me from
that article too.
As you can see, I've
been getting a lot of positive press that is helping me
share what I do with an ever-growing audience. If
you are interested in other articles that I write or are
written about me, you can find them on the Articles &
Research page on my website.
