InSight - Newsletter & Events for November 2007

| Release your creative power ... |
For November 2007
|
The phrase, "Discover new ways to share the
things you love", by Terri Trespicio, appropriately summarizes
the outcome of my recent efforts to "let go and make space":
- Administrative: An on-line pre-registration feature is
in the works, so that you can sign up for my programs at
your convenience. I will unveil that upgrade in my next
newsletter.
- Marketing: One of my students created an opportunity for
me to teach my 6-week meditation course on-site where she
works. This is a new and exciting way for prospective
students to find me at a time and place most convenient for
them. It also fills a long-term personal goal of taking my
programs into organizations and businesses. Please let me
know if your employer would host any of my workshops or
courses on-site.
- Programs: On my website, you will find four new events,
which are variations on my personal theme, "meditation = an
opportunity to focus, contemplate and grow".
All of
these represent new ways to share the things I love. The focus
of this newsletter is to introduce you to the two new
programs, which are scheduled for November.
So, that
is the outcome, but how about the process? Those of you who
have had private Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions with me
are familiar with the concept of an 'edge' - a place of
slight discomfort that draws your awareness. Suffice it to
say, September was my edge, as I felt extremely
unsettled and surrounded by chaos. By choosing to be present
to those feelings, I had the following insights:
- My business has become my living meditation - forcing me
to focus on the present moment and putting in my best
effort, while shedding my personal expectations around past
performance and future results. So, for those of you who
wonder ... Yes, I do meditate daily, but not in a
traditional way!
- Yoga has taught me that my state of being changes from
day to day. Thus, it surprised me that I had an expectation
of constancy and predictability surrounding my business. It
was the expectation that caused my discomfort.
World-renowned organizational consultant, Margaret
Wheatley, says "Chaos can release your creative power in the
same way that necessity is the mother of invention. When
things get extreme, when the old ways don't work, that's when
you are your most inventive." Profound words that helped me
remain present to my edge, and eventually, step forward
through the chaos to discover new ways to share the things I
love.
Sincerely,

NEW - For women only ...
By popular request, the next in my discussion group
series will be limited to women-only. Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen
pioneered the recognition of 'the role of the spirit in health
and the recovery from illness' in western medicine. In her
book, "My Grandfather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge
and Belonging", Dr. Remen shares her perspective on seeing the
blessings that exist for everyone in both the mundane and
challenging aspects of life.
Come prepared to share
what caught your attention in Dr. Remen's book. It could be
something that made you stop and appreciate or it could be
something that made you take notice. As long as it made you
stop and think, it is worth sharing!

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
An edge is a place of slight discomfort, which draws
your attention. We usually respond in one of two ways: by
ignoring it or pushing through it quickly. The former leaves
the underlying circumstances unresolved and the latter can
lead to pain or regret. But by choosing the third option ...
to be in that place in-between ignoring and pushing ... to
simply be present to that discomfort ... allows insights about
self-imposed expectations to emerge.
A Phoenix Rising
Yoga Therapy session is a unique exploration of your personal
edges, resulting in an Integrated InSight. Clients leave
empowered to follow through with an individualized action step
that carries their InSight into their lives. Absolutely no
experience in yoga is required!
