Spiritual Meditation Fellowship
The impetus behind creating the Spiritual Meditation Fellowship at the Camarillo Methodist Church was my personal commitment to stop getting hung up on 'what is' versus 'what isn't' meditation, and to find creative ways to bring the end result of meditation into my life. I needed to find a community of fellow seekers to support that commitment to simply let go and explore. Hence, I founded the Spiritual Meditation Fellowship.
This fellowship is complimentary and open to everyone, regardless of prior meditation experience or religious affiliation. We are a group of spiritual explorers seeking to expand ways to bring a meditative experience into our everyday lives. Participants are encouraged to let go of their perception of 'what is' versus 'what isn't' meditation, and simply focus on their own experience with a particular approach. We have an unspoken understanding that so many different techniques exist because different things work for different people. Participants take turns introducing and leading the group in a technique or approach that has been personally meaningful.
Everyone is encouraged to recognize how meditative experiences already show up in their daily lives. Thus far, our experiences have ranged from a from a labyrinth walk, to an heirloom apple meditation, to Christian contemplative prayer, to a Buddhist sangha to a Wayne Dyer's guided visualization. As you can see, we explore both near and far, so please consider joining us.
As of September 2008, this Fellowship will no longer meet monthly. Please check the calendar to see when we resume, and please RSVP through the calendar for each meeting that you plan to attend. Consider signing up for my newsletter, so that I can keep you posted on when we will meet next.
