Learn Meditation

Courses, Workshops, Downloads, and Articles where you can learn, practice, and experience concepts that can transform your life.

Some people want to learn meditation techniques that they can then take home and put into Nature Meditationpractice. Some people want to quiet their minds. Some people want to reduce their anxiety and yet others want to manage chronic pain. Some want to read and research a multitude of approaches before taking the step themselves. Others are so convinced that they cannot meditate that they won't even consider a program with the word "meditation" in it. All of these people have found their way to my courses and workshops and have left with personal knowledge that meditation can address their needs and that it is something they can do.

The offerings that you'll find under "Learn Meditations" are intended to support a variety of styles of learning. But once you get to know me, you'll know that my approach is to encourage people to let go of self-limiting definitions of meditation and to broaden their perception through experience. Different techniques exist because different things work for different people. The only steadfast rule of meditation that I maintain is that you should be able to meditate any time, anywhere, and in any position. So I structure my courses and workshops to introduce a variety of techniques, which we try in different positions. I view myself as a facilitator - creating a structure for group learning, passing on knowledge to others, and receiving new perspectives in return.

Carl Rogers Quote about Experience as an Authority

I truly believe that we each take away something different from a particular experience, but that doesn't make our individual insight any less meaningful. Thus, attendees are encouraged to decide for themselves what stood out the most from their experience, whether it was something striking that was said, or a technique learned, or an insight gained, or a creative way to apply a technique. Nothing I say is set in stone and participants are encouraged to be creative with what they learn, with the goal of adapting it for their own lifestyle and circumstances. As a result, the content of my programs is constantly evolving. Many choose to repeat my programs because they come away with something new each time.

  • Meditation Courses - If you believe you are unable to meditate because your mind is always racing, then this is the course for you! You will be introduced to a variety of Nature Meditationtechniques most effective in promoting mental relaxation. An added bonus ... many of the techniques can be blended into your daily activities. First time attendees consistently report sleeping better, reducing anxiety or alleviating stress using a basic technique shared in the first meeting.
  • ABC's of Meditation Workshop - You've read that meditation alleviates insomnia, chronic pain, and stress.  But, there are hundreds of books on meditation and each describe it differently.  How do you choose which is best for you?  Bring your questions to this one hour interactive workshop, which will provide you with information, answers, and practice.
  • Alleviate Insomnia With Simple Relaxation Techniques Workshop - Three out of four people have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Recent studies show that cognitive behavior therapy, which is a combination of behavior modification and education in relaxation techniques, is more effective than sleeping pills in improving duration and quality of sleep. During this 1-hour workshop, you will learn and practice simple techniques to help quiet your mind, as well as physically relax your body. Come and gain InSights on how to sleep better and longer.

Workshops meet only once and are intended as a broad introduction to concepts and to me as a teacher. While there is a fair amount of content covered in the workshop, practice time is necessarily limited. These opportunities are perfect for those who are on the fence about signing up for a course. In contrast, a course meets weekly for a pre-determined number of weeks. The advantage of a course is that it allows me to focus on a different topic each week. You will have ample opportunity to practice each topic introduced and the reinforcement of weekly practice as you learn to do something that we rarely do in our daily routines.

Please check my calendar to find out where and when the "Learn Meditation" courses and workshops are offered. Register on-line through my calendar to take advantage of special website pricing. If my current teaching schedule doesn't mesh with yours, consider making arrangements for me to come teach At Your Place.
